Automation engineers work together with a host of other specialists to produce electrical control systems, equipment, machines, facilities and fully-automated systems. You will also put these into operation, carry out maintenance and repair work and adapt various pieces of equipment to customers' needs. Automation engineers project and program individual solutions for control and automation tasks and are also responsible for producing various documents.


Automation engineers are economical and ecological in their way of thinking and acting. You will carry out your tasks and projects independently and systematically. You will also be used to working in a team and open-minded and flexible to change and innovation.



Personal requirements:


You must have a genuine interest in mathematics, algebra, physics and technical / electrical matters. If you also have an aptitude for analytical / abstract thought and enjoy working with accuracy and care with ultra-modern technologies, then a career as an automation engineer is the one for you.






Training profile:


Since the automation engineer course was launched in 2009 there has only been "Level E".

We require a "highest"-level school-leavers' diploma (level E is compulsory in mathematical subjects) as well as very good results in mathematics, algebra, geometry and physics.

Level M (Berufsmaturität/vocational high school leavers' certificate)
Trainees who take Profile E have the possibility from their second apprenticeship year to study for the Berufsmaturität (vocational high school leavers' certificate). To do so, they must pass an entrance examination.
